Laois Senior Road Race 2017


With 24 Ladies competing individual Gold was not a definite until the last few seconds of the race where our own Grace Reilly finished first in a time of 14:04 2 seconds ahead of Lisa Sweeny of St Michaels AC. Grace was followed by Louise Stack who took time out from her studies to compete and claimed her first senior individual bronze medal in a time of 14:26. Sharon Grant ran a time of 14:34 (5th) and Anna Duggan who is in great form of late ran 15:40 (12th). This made up the gold team on the day with 21 points. Not alone 1st team but the ladies 2nd team were bonze team to finish. Catherine Ryan 16:01, Maria Cuddy 16:14, Amy Walsh 16:45 and Olwyn Larkin 16:56. A great day for the ladies.

Our men did not disappoint and put a out very strong team, winning gold. Tom Lupton ran a great race to come second in a time of 26:27 followed by James Hamm 3rd in 26.39, Cyril Cuddy 4th 26.44 and Aengus Burke 6th 27:08 making up the winning team with a total of 15 points. The men were backed up by Noel Marum in a time of 28:25, Richie Reid who took a tumble on the home stretch and was unable to finish and John Campbell ran a time of 30:08. Good work lads.

We had only three juveniles in action today Fionn Cuddy in the boys under 10 was second. Good running by Fionn showing a lot of potential. In the girl’s u 12 we had Caoimhe Cuddy 5th and Aoife Cuddy 7th.

We all retreated then to the hall in Kilcavan for the medal presentation and a superb display of refreshments.


Athy Duathlon Series Race 3
