Laois Masters Cross Country

What an end to the Laois Cross Country season in Rosenallis, individual and team medals galore from the young and not so young, with families to the fore also.   The junior girls was unique, with Amy, Charlie and Katie Walsh the 3 scorers on the gold medal team, surely a record. Next up was the master’s ladies, where Grace McConnell took top spot overall, leading the team of Maria Cuddy and Anna Duggan to gold.  Maria took bronze 0/35, while Anna secured gold 0/45.

The men's masters was next, and Tony Reilly kept pace with his wife Grace by taking overall first and the 0/45 gold medal. Tony leading the team of Aengus Burke, Noel Marum and Joe Walsh to gold, Joe joining his 3 daughters in the medal haul in the process!  In the 0/35 section Colm Fitzgerald probably had the race of his life since his youth days to take gold. Colm lead the team of Cyril Cuddy, James Hamm, Ritchie Reid and Paul Cuddy to gold to make it a double for the club, with Cyril taking bronze in the 0/35. Thanks to the Kilcavan / Rosenallis club for the hard work organising the event.

Great to see our young people out in force in Rosenallis on Sunday last, credit to them for getting out and competing with so many distractions nowadays.  We started with the U/8's , where Grace Cuddy and Jacob Day got into action early. In the  U/10 boys 800 meters Cian day was 6th , while in  U /12 girls 1,200 meters Emma Jane Cuddy was 7th. In the

U12 boys 1,200 meters Fionn Cuddy had a great second place finish. Next up in the

U14 girls 1,600 meters Grace Meade ran a very strong race also finishing 2nd and Leah Smullen close behind in 5th.

Super stuff by the young people.

Parkrun

Elaine Moore returned to action by travelling to Carlow for the local park run, good to see Elaine back.   In Vicarstown Lucy Dunne and Nuala Arrigan had fine runs, Lucy placing 3rd lady home.  Joe Walsh also competed, using it as his warm up for the Laois Masters the next day, well done to all.
